Petr Ivanovich Bogdanov

Петр Иванович Богданов
1776–1816

The son of a Moscow deacon who later voluntarily renounced the priesthood. Graduated from the Slavic-Greek-Latin Academy, then studied at the Medical-Surgical Academy. At the beginning of the nineteenth century he taught literature, logic and rhetoric at the Moscow Noble Pension. The early works of Petr Bogdanov, published in the form of leaflets, are devoted to Aleksandr Golitsyn; he is also the dedicatee of the translation of the poem by Albrecht von Haller "On the Origin of Evil" (“O proiskhozhdenii zla”) (1798), previously translated by Nikolai Karamzin (1786).
